Canvas: Common Tools Hidden from Students in Course Navigation
When a Canvas course is created, you can see a set of default tools (links) shown on the Course Navigation. The following table lists which tools (links) are visible/not visible to students by default. Tools visible to students Tools with eye slash icon are hidden from students. How to use Turnitin in Canvas
IMPORTANT! Turnitin in Canvas can be used in two different ways; the full interface (Option 1), or just the plagiarism review (Option 2). Although Turnitin shows under External Tool, it is not available. Do not use that option. Any Turnitin assignments imported from Blackboard must be re-created. Preparing Your Course for Canvas Migration
In spring 2023, we had the Canvas soft launch with limited courses. However, in the summer of 2023, ALL summer courses will be in Canvas. Your courses will be migrated from Blackboard to Canvas by request. Most content transfers without issue, but migration is not perfect. There may be some formatting issues, or 3rd party integrations, e.g., Turnitin, which may break. Some tools, such as journals and rubrics, do not transfer. Turnitin allows you to create rubrics and share them across courses and with other instructors. There are three rubric types: Standard rubric – allows you to enter scale values and criteria percentages. The maximum value for the Standard rubric will be the same as the highest scale value entered Custom rubric – allows you to enter any value directly into the rubric cells.
