How to Create a Peer Mark Assignment – New

PeerMark is a peer review assignment tool that allows students to review and evaluate papers submitted by their classmates. The instructors can choose whether the reviews are anonymous or attributed.

Basic stages of the peer review process:

  • Enable PeerMark for an existing assignment or create a new PeerMark assignment.
  • Set the number of papers required to be reviewed and create free response and scale questions for students to respond to while reviewing papers.
  • Student papers are submitted to Turnitin assignment.
  • On the PeerMark assignment start date, students begin writing peer reviews.
  • For each assigned paper, students write reviews by responding to the free response and scale questions.
  • Students receive reviews.
  • Once the PeerMark due date passes no more reviews can be written, completed, or edited by the writer.

Steps:

  1. Click on the assignment link that has already been created.
  2. In the Assignment Inbox tab, click on the gear icon to bring up the settings.
  3. Select Enable PeerMark.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. This will add a new PeerMark tab on the top.
  6. Click on the tab and select PeerMark Setup.
  7. On the next screen, you will see three tabs; PeerMark Assignment, PeerMark Questions and Distribution.
  8. In the PeerMark Assignment tab fill out all the fields.
  9. Click on Additional Settings for more options.
  10. Select the options you need, and click on Save and Continue to save the settings.
  11. In the “PeerMark Questions” tab, add peer review questions by clicking Add Question. 
  12. You can add either a Free Response or Scale question type.
  13. You can also add pre-written questions from Add from Library
  14. In “PeerMark Question Library” window, select the questions you want, and click Add Selected Questions
  15. Go to the Distribution tab to review allocation of reviewers.
  16. The text, (Forced: 0, System Assigned: 1) indicates that system has assigned 1 reviewer.
  17. If you want to manually assign reviewers, click the ‘+’ sign and follow the prompts.
  18. Students can access the PeerMark assignment by going to the assignment link and click on PeerMark Reviews tab located on the top.
  19. Once the reviews are completed, you can access them by going to PeerMark tab and select Peer Mark Reviews
  20. Click on the blue pen icon to view the reviews.
